Meditation with Emily Doskow
Saturday, April 24, 2021
7:15am-7:45am
Whether we are drafting documents, meeting with clients, or presenting a case in the courtroom, the practice of mindfulness meditation supports the practice of law. Mindfulness meditation is a simple, powerful way of training our attention that can calm and center the mind, increase focus and productivity, and improve communication and well-being. Every lawyer, in every type of practice environment, in every specialty, can benefit from mindfulness.
Emily Doskow has been practicing family law in the Bay Area since 1989. She specializes in family matters including adoptions, surrogacy agreements, prenuptial agreements, parentage issues, and mediated and collaborative divorce. She is the author or co-author of numerous books, including Nolo’s Essential Guide to Divorce; Nolo’s Essential Guide to Child Custody & Support, and The Legal Guide for Lesbian & Gay Couples, and is a frequent speaker on LGBTI family issues. Emily has been practicing mindfulness meditation for over 18 years. Emily has taught mindfulness to law students at JFK University Law School, to Certified Family Law Specialists in Sacramento and Alameda counties as well as the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys, and to attorneys at the Alameda County Bar Association, the Family Violence Law Center, Continuing Education of the Bar, and Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
