INSTITUTE FOR FAMILY DISPUTE RESOLUTION

The Institute for Family Dispute Resolution (“IFDR”) is a California charitable organization dedicated to improving access for all families to consensual dispute resolution (“CDR”) resources to help protect family members, especially children, from the negative effects family conflict such as divorce has on their well-being and emotional health.

Our mission envisions the following actions:

  • Increase public awareness of family CDR (such as Collaborative Practice, Mediation) options through education.
  • Increase access to family CDR resources for traditionally underserved communities, including increasing the number of CDR professionals from those communities.
  • Create and promote culturally appropriate family dispute resolution models.
  • Increase the number and broaden the abilities of CDR professionals to provide high quality services to all families.
  • Promote, support, and facilitate families to maintain their autonomy in addressing family conflict in a peaceful and respectful manner.

In memory of Warren Sacks, CPA, a beloved member of the Collaborative Practice community and a founding member of the IFDR Board, IFDR offers scholarships for first-time attendees to the annual CP-Cal Celebration conference. The number of scholarships that can be given depends on the generous support of the CDR community. For application information please click here.

The scholarship is available to first-time attendees who have a demonstrated interest in collaborative practice and non-adversarial family dispute resolution. Preferences (not requirements) will be given to applicants who:

  • Are members of under-represented communities including, but not limited to, communities of color, ethnic minorities, or socio-economically disadvantaged communities
  • Have different physical abilities
  • Do not identify as cis-gender
  • Are bi-lingual or bi-cultural

A donation of $750 will fund one Scholarship, but a gift of any size is helpful and appreciated! Please help us to award as many scholarships as we can for this year’s Celebration!

Contributions by check should be made payable to “CP Cal Foundation” and mailed to:
